Breathing Apparatus for General Emergencies

Course Overview

This Breathing Apparatus course is designed for those required to undertake emergency rescues while wearing Breathing Apparatus. This may include emergency response groups and on-site firefighting crews required to act prior to additional support. The course considers work in non-respirable environments, for example ammonia, waste-water, limited fire attack and other hazardous situations.

Training is designed to build confidence and provide participants with the knowledge and skill to safely use the equipment. We cover the physiology of respiration, different types of apparatus, how these function and safe working procedures. In addition we challenge participants with simulations for rescue situations. These may involve evaluation of hazards and risks, search protocols, victim assessment, extraction techniques, effective decision making and the teamwork required for a rescue.
