Health & Safety Representative
Providing Health & Safety Representatives (HSRs) with the knowledge and confidence to manage Health and Safety issues in the workplace.
This course provides the initial Health and Safety Representative Training needed to gain an understanding of Health and Safety Representative role and to successfully carry out responsibilities according to the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 (HSW Act).
Over the one day the course includes group and individual activities to:
- Explain the overall role and functions of HSRs in the workplace.
- Show how to act effectively as an advocate for workers.
- Identify the responsibilities of a PCBU and WorkSafe New Zealand in reference to their role.
- Describe the risk management process and the importance of communicating during the process with both the worker and management.
Appointed HSRs that successfully complete the course will have the power to issue Provisional Improvement Notices (PINs) and direct a worker/s to cease unsafe work.
NZQA UNITS
29315: Describe the role and functions of the Health and Safety Representative in a New Zealand workplace
N.B. The Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 (HSW Act) prompted a change in the standard of training for Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs). Unit standard 29315 now replaces unit standard 20918 as the recognised industry standard for Health and Safety Representatives.

We have processes in place to be able to support anyone in our trainings to learn and get the certification (if applicable).
There is also a FREE online learning platform that helps improve reading, writing and maths skills as well work and life skills including learning to drive (Road Code), heavy and forklift licences, health and safety and understanding finance (My Money).
