Description
This full day Working at Heights Refresher training course will update you and your team with current industry best practice.
Our course focuses on the key components of heights safety and harness use. We will issue a ‘Refresher’ certificate to confirm that relevant content has been covered.
Participants completing this refresher will have their updated their knowledge and be able to:
- Ensure they are using harness’s correct.
- Identify and maintain height work equipment and fall arrest systems.
- Identify and construct anchor points for fall arrest systems.
- Employ fall arrest systems in a commercial environment.
- Plan rescue techniques and emergency procedures for working at height when using fall arrest systems.
Refreshing NZQA Unit Standards:
17600: Explain safe work practices for working at heights
23229: Use a safety harness for person fall prevention when working at heights
15757: Use install and disestablish temporary proprietary height safety systems when working at heights.
25045: Employ height safety equipment in the workplace

Entry Criteria
Learner Detail Confirmation:
All learners are required to have their identity verified prior to attending training.
If a learner is new to Industry Training Works, or their details cannot be confirmed within our database, we may request a copy of valid identification to complete enrolment.
Course Criteria:
Participants must hold a minimum of 1 or more of the units being refreshed on this training. Please note: Unit standards are not awarded on refresher courses.
Participants must meet minimum English language requirements (e.g. NCEA Level 1 or equivalent / IELTS 5.5) If this requirement is not met, a reader/writer must be provided (not another course participant).
Literacy & Numeracy Support
We have processes in place to support all participants throughout their training, helping them achieve certification where applicable.
There is also a free online learning platform, Pathways Awarua, which helps build reading, writing, and maths skills, along with practical work and life skills. This includes support for learning to drive (Road Code), heavy vehicle and forklift licences, health and safety, and understanding personal finance (My Money).
