Description

Ensure your team is equipped with the skills and knowledge to operate forklifts safely, efficiently, and in accordance with workplace and legislative requirements. Our comprehensive forklift operator training is designed to build confidence and capability, helping reduce risk and improve overall workplace safety.

Combining theory with practical application, this course provides participants with a solid understanding of safe operating practices, equipment handling, and hazard awareness. It is suitable for both new operators and those looking to refresh or formalise their existing skills.

10851: Operate a powered industrial lift truck (Forklift)
Optional: 18496: Demonstrate knowledge and skill for driving a forklift on a road for endorsement F

Important Note: 

  • Forklift Operator’s Certificate (OSH Certificate) awarded for a minimum pass rate of 80%.

  • Unit Standard 10851 awarded only if 100% is achieved in the assessment.

Entry Criteria

Learner Detail Confirmation: 

All learners are required to have their identity verified prior to attending training.

If a learner is new to Industry Training Works, or their details cannot be confirmed within our database, we may request a copy of valid identification to complete enrolment.

Course Criteria:

Participants must be at least 16 years of age for US 10851, and must hold a current full driver’s licence (excluding motorcycle licences) for US 18496.

Participants must meet minimum English language requirements (e.g. NCEA Level 1 or equivalent / IELTS 5.5) If this requirement is not met, a reader/writer must be provided (not another course participant).

Literacy & Numeracy Support

We have processes in place to support all participants throughout their training, helping them achieve certification where applicable.

There is also a free online learning platform, Pathways Awarua, which helps build reading, writing, and maths skills, along with practical work and life skills. This includes support for learning to drive (Road Code), heavy vehicle and forklift licences, health and safety, and understanding personal finance (My Money).
