Protecting Forestry Crews: Practical Health and Safety Support for the Bush

Forestry work is demanding, high-risk, and often takes place far from immediate help. At Industry Training Works, we understand the challenges your crews face — from unpredictable weather to rugged terrain — and we’re here to help keep them safe, healthy, and confident on the job.

Specialised First Aid for Forestry

Our First Aid Instructor brings real forestry experience to every course, delivering hands-on training designed for the realities of the bush.

Each session covers Unit Standards 6400, 6401, and 6402, and focuses on practical, scenario-based learning around the hazards your team is most likely to face, including:

  • Chainsaw cuts and crush injuries
  • Severe bleeding, hypothermia, and heat stress
  • Managing long delays while waiting for help in remote areas

Training is immersive and realistic — your crew will learn how to improvise with limited gear, move casualties through rough ground, and communicate effectively under pressure.

Occupational Health Checks for Forestry Teams

To keep your workforce healthy for the long term, we offer Occupational Health Checks tailored to forestry environments. Delivered by qualified occupational health professionals, these checks monitor the unique risks your team faces, such as:

  • Hearing tests to detect noise-related damage
  • Skin checks for chemical or UV exposure
  • Grip strength and range-of-motion testing to track vibration-related strain

Regular health monitoring not only meets compliance requirements — it helps identify early warning signs, confirm that your safety measures are effective, and ensure your crews are fit for work.

We’re Here to Support Your Team
