SECURITY COA TRAINING
This security training is a compulsory requirement to gain a Certificate of Approval (COA) which will enable you to work as a crowd controller, property or personal guard.
There are two options available to complete this course.
Option one:
Course Duration: Pre-course work and 2 days in the classroom
Pre-course includes: Completion of online unit standard 27360 prior to training days
Option Two:
Course Duration: Pre-course and post-course work and 1 day in the classroom
Pre-course includes: Completion of online unit standard 27360 prior to training day
Post-course includes: Extramural theory-based training covering unit standard 27364 which is delivered by self-managed distance learning
PRICE
Scheduled course: $290.00 + gst per person
Group Booking: $2,900.00 + gst + disbursements
NZQA UNITS
The course includes:
- NZQA unit standard 27360 (4 credits) – Describe conflict management in a security context. This is a theory-based unit standard covering what you need to know to deal with conflict when doing security work.
- NZQA unit standard 27361 (4 credits) – Manage conflict situations in a security context. To achieve this unit standard, you will need to show you are able to deal with conflict when doing security work.
- NZQA unit standard 27364 (4 credits) – Demonstrate knowledge of the security industry in the pre-employment context. This is a theory-based unit covering what you need to know about security work before you start work.
- Reporting of credits to NZQA
- Providing Certification of Achievement to candidates
All 3 units must be completed within 3 months of enrolment. A late fee applies after this.

CERTIFICATE OF APPROVAL APPLICATIONS
Industry Training Works Ltd does not manage the COA application process – this is done by PSPLA.
Candidates must submit their application, once completed, all queries regarding your COA must be directed to PSPLA.

The government regulations do not allow for any exemptions for the Conflict Management unit standards (27360, 27361)
If you have completed the National Certificate in Security (Level 2, 3 or 4) after 2009, then you may be exempt from unit standard 27364.
