Description

This Basic First Aid course is designed to provide participants with the essential skills and knowledge needed to respond to medical emergencies. 

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize and respond to a variety of emergency situations.
  • Provide immediate first aid treatment for injuries, illnesses, and medical emergencies.
  • Perform basic life support, including CPR, in accordance with current guidelines.
  • Maintain a safe and supportive environment during emergencies.

Target Audience:
This course is suitable for anyone who requires basic first aid training for work, personal knowledge, or community safety. It is particularly useful for those in workplaces, community organisations, or high-risk environments.

Entry Criteria

Learner Detail Confirmation: 

All learners are required to have their identity verified prior to attending training.

If a learner is new to Industry Training Works, or their details cannot be confirmed within our database, we may request a copy of valid identification to complete enrolment.

Course Criteria:

Students need to be able to kneel on the floor to carry out CPR and use both hands and arms effectively. If any participants have physical limitations, please get in touch with us to discuss suitable arrangements.

Participants must meet minimum English language requirements (e.g. NCEA Level 1 or equivalent / IELTS 5.5) If this requirement is not met, a reader/writer must be provided (not another course participant).

Literacy & Numeracy Support

We have processes in place to support all participants throughout their training, helping them achieve certification where applicable.

There is also a free online learning platform, Pathways Awarua, which helps build reading, writing, and maths skills, along with practical work and life skills. This includes support for learning to drive (Road Code), heavy vehicle and forklift licences, health and safety, and understanding personal finance (My Money).
