Description
Retain your First Aid certification with practical and engaging Workplace First Aid Refresher Training
Retaining certification in first aid skills gives reassurance to employers and workers that they have trained and competent people who can save lives in the event of an emergency.
Our first aid refresher ensures that participants meet all key competencies to keep their first aid qualification current. Our course provides an abbreviated version of the full first aid course and refreshes participants on all the practical components of their original course.
Refreshing NZQA Unit Standard(s)
6400: Manage first aid in an emergency situation
6401: Provide first aid
6402: Provide basic life support

Entry Criteria
Learner Detail Confirmation:
All learners are required to have their identity verified prior to attending training.
If a learner is new to Industry Training Works, or their details cannot be confirmed within our database, we may request a copy of valid identification to complete enrolment.
Course Criteria:
Please note that participants must be completing refresher training no more than 2 years and 3 months from their previous certificate issue date.
Evidence of previous training/certification is required prior to course attendance.
Students need to be able to kneel on the floor to carry out CPR and use both hands and arms effectively. If any participants have physical limitations, please get in touch with us to discuss suitable arrangements.
Participants must meet minimum English language requirements (e.g. NCEA Level 1 or equivalent / IELTS 5.5) If this requirement is not met, a reader/writer must be provided (not another course participant).
Literacy & Numeracy Support
We have processes in place to support all participants throughout their training, helping them achieve certification where applicable.
There is also a free online learning platform, Pathways Awarua, which helps build reading, writing, and maths skills, along with practical work and life skills. This includes support for learning to drive (Road Code), heavy vehicle and forklift licences, health and safety, and understanding personal finance (My Money).
